This NOAA-14 view of Lake Michigan shows clouds forming in the cold air as it blows over the relatively warmer lake. Features can be seen through the high thin clouds north of 44 Deg N lat. The land around the lake is snow covered, highlighting rivers and cities. The gray area just west of the southern tip of Lake Michigan is the city of Chicago at about latitude 42 N. Northward along the lakeshore is a smaller gray area at about latitude 43 N, this is Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A larger view is available.
