• The Fork fire in the north at about latitude 39.
• Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest in the central area at about latitude 38. Yosemite National Park appears to under the large smoke cloud if not within it. Check the latest news from Yosemite for current conditions.
• The San Luis Obispo fire in the south at about latitude 35.

• Channel 3 (769 Kb)
  Gives a better view of the fire areas themselves once you know where to look from the smoke plume image. This sensor appears to have saturated in some areas, perhaps due to the warm temperatures over the region.
• Channel 4 (850 Kb) This channel shows thermal emission from the scene below it so it gives an indication of temperature. It is not as sensitive to the fires themselves as channel 3. Clouds appear black since they are much colder than the hot land below them.
