Georgia
This image when examined closeup in channel 3 shows numerous
bright spots. These spots were visible in many states, including
Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina, and some in Virginia. On the next pass some were
seen in east Texas.
This channel 3 daytime view shows numerous bright spots scattered
over Georgia and surrounding states.
A very careful examination of this color composite image shows definite
smoke plumes originating at a number of the bright spots visible in the
channel 3 image. This is convincing evidence that those bright spots are
real fires and not sensor noise. None of the smoke plumes are very dense,
it is likely that most or all of the bright spots are real fires.
