Color composite image using channels 1, 2, and 3.
The fires of yesterday do not show any evident smoke in this view but scars are visible as small blue areas. The positions of yesterday's fires may be found from yesterday's channel 3. image.

Today's image may also be compared to an image from Aug 20 (810 Kb) which has been reprocessed to better show the land. Close examination shows the absence of the Malibu fire scar, the ones farther south near San Diego, as well as Marple Canyon fire scar shown on the 1996 Aug 29 09:13 UT pass. The largest fire scar is from the fire east of San Luis Obispo which is burning in this view from back in Aug 20.
