New Quebec Crater

Image of the New Quebec impact crater in northern Quebec taken by the NOAA-14 weather satellite 1997 Feb 23, 18:27 UT.

The crater is visible as a tiny feature at longitude -73.7, latitude 61.3. This crater is 3.44 km in diameter and sits on a plain of gentle relief which in this image is snow covered. The full image shows ice covered Hudson Strait to the northeast and the northwest part of Ungava Bay in the lower right. At the crater location the sun is about 18 degrees above the southern horizon. A very nice aerial photo of this crater is available.
