This view of the Great Lakes was acquired by NOAA-14 on 1997 Jun 27 at 19:18 UT (2:18 PM CDT). Two of the 5 channels of the AVHRR image sensor were used to compute surface temperature of the water. Channel 2, near infrared, was used for land and clouds. A large variation in temperature is seen.
