This view of part of the Gulf Stream was acquired by NOAA-12 on 1997 Oct 07 at 22:59 UT (6:59 PM EDT). Two of the 5 channels of the AVHRR image sensor were used to compute surface temperature of the water. Channel 3, mid-infrared, was used for land and clouds. This view was processed to avoid the black border around land but some small clouds have slipped through over the water.
