The Gulf of California

Merged Data.
This image was created by combining channel 2 land with sea surface temperature for the northern Gulf of California. Some data was lost in the lower parts of this image because the satellite was so close to the horizon. The white area north of the gulf is the Grand Desert of Sonora, Mexico. The dark area to the right of this desert is the Pinacate volcanic field. The water on the Pacific side of Baja is much colder than the gulf.
