Merged Data.
This image was created by combining channel 2 land with sea surface temperature for the Gulf of Tehuantepec, southern Mexico. Strong winds blowing south through a mountain pass blows the warm surface water away from the shore bringing up the cold subsurface water. This feature is called a supersquirt and is more prominent in the winter.
A shaded relief map shows the mountains and the pass.
