Merged Data.
This image was created by combining channel 2 land and clouds with
surface temperature for the area around the Bahama Islands.
Florida appears in the upper left corner of this image. Cuba
cuts across the lower left corner. The warmest water is yellow and orange,
cooler water is grean and blue. The water is cooler in shallow areas
since it cools more quickly. The deeper water holds on to its heat
longer. A large blue/green area is seen in the central area. Intruding
into this area from the north is a long patch of warm water. This is
a deep region called the Tongue of the Ocean. It is thousands of feet deep
while it is possible to wade in some nearby shallow areas.
