AVHRR Imagery
The Ocean Remote Sensing Group receives real-time AVHRR
(Advanced Very High Resoluton Radiometer) data from the NOAA
polar-orbiting satellites. These broadcast data are received via
a 5-m dish operated by the JHU/APL
Space Department's Satellite
Communications Facility. These data are then processed
automatically in real-time and posted as various products on the
web.
- Sea Surface Temperature.
Real-time sea surface temperature imagery off the east coast
of North America and the Gulf of Mexico.
- Overviews.
Real-time graphical representations of area coverage and
gray-scale versions of recently acquired AVHRR imagery.
- Dynatrack.
Real-time color-composite
imagery over various land areas of the United States generated
from AVHRR imagery.
- Hurricanes.
Hurricane imagery generated from AVHRR data. This site is very
active during hurricane season. Archive imagery is also
