Initial
Impressions: The low-level flow just
offshore of Cape Fairweather was sampled in conditions of weak onshore (SW)
flow. This case can be compared with the
case of 30 September which featured similar conditions. The low-level winds at C were essentially
zero, unlike on 30 September when they were ESE at 10 knots. In this particular case the transition to
westerly flow was at about 2.5 K’. Both
cases involved the aircraft sampling centered near the time of a SAR overpass.
