Inner city details are becoming visible on this image (every other pixel). The tidal basin is easy to see. River bridges, the Pentagon, National airport, the mall, Rock Creek Park, and many other features may be seen. Just above the tidal basin is a small white speck, the Washington Monument, its shadow can be seen pointing toward the upper left.
This image shows every pixel. The Mall in Wanshington D.C. is well shown. Many individual buildings show their shape. The largest is the Pentagon, to the lower left of downtown, across the Potomac. It actually shows some structure. The Potomac River flows in from the middle of the left edge and out the middle of the bottom edge of the image. Joining it from the right is the Anacostia River. The Tidal Basin is the four-leaf clover shaped body of water left of the image center. The Washington Channel reaches from it downward to the rivers and separates the red colored East Potomac Golf Course from the rest of the city. National Airport is visible on the left side of the potomac at the image bottom.
The Washington Monument is visible as a small white spot in the red grassy area above the Tidal Basin. It casts a dark shadow toward the upper left, pointing to The Ellipse. The White House is just above The Ellipse. To the left of the Washington Monument a long rectangular reflecting pool extends toward the Lincoln Memorial which is visible as a white spot inside a traffic circle.
