The Mississippi River Delta

This NOAA-14 satelliet image was taken on Nov 15, 1995 at 2:09 PM EST. Channels 1, 2, and 3 are combined as green, red, and blue.

The Mississippi River Delta shows up as a pink lacy pattern on a green background. The green indicates sediment filled water (the green channel penetrates into the water more then the other channels). Clouds are visible in the northeast corner of this image as white and yellow areas.

The largest lake (30.2 N lat, -90.1 W long) is lake Pontchartrain. New Orleans is visible as a light blue patch on its south shore.
