Mount Whitney Trip 1997 by Ray Sterner

      This web page documents a trip to Mount Whitney and the hike up it in the summer of 1997. A laptop computer was used to create this web page while traveling, photos were added using a snapshot scanner. The trip there from Maryland and the hike up the mountain are described.

      Besides climbing Mount Whitney one of the major goals of the trip was to visit Hulda Crooks, also known as "Grandma Whitney" due to her 23 climbs of this mountain. She was 91 years old the last time she made the climb. She was 101 years old when we visited her. She autographed our copy of her book.
